Legal
Terms of service
01
Using Spendful
These terms govern access to Spendful. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to use it lawfully and in accordance with these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
You must be legally capable of entering into this agreement in the place where you live. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you add and for activity performed through your account.
02
Account security
- Keep sign-in methods and recovery channels secure.
- Do not share authentication codes or allow unauthorised access to your account.
- Notify Spendful if you believe the account has been compromised.
- Do not upload financial records you are not authorised to process.
03
Personal finance information
Spendful organises information and provides calculations based on the records you supply. It does not provide regulated financial, investment, tax, credit or legal advice. Forecasts, scores and recommendations are informational and may be incomplete or inaccurate.
Verify important figures against original statements and consult a qualified professional before making decisions that require professional advice.
04
Plans, payments and cancellation
The Free plan is available without a subscription. Paid Pro pricing is displayed in South African rand and is processed through Payfast. Taxes may apply where required.
- Monthly and annual subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
- You can update a linked payment card or cancel future renewals from the Spendful billing page.
- Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current paid period unless the checkout terms state otherwise.
- Price changes will be communicated before they apply to a renewal where required.
- Nothing in these terms limits a right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008. Any cooling-off, cancellation or refund right that applies to a particular transaction will be honoured.
05
Electronic transactions and consumer information
Before a paid order is submitted, the checkout flow identifies the service, price, billing interval and material terms. You may correct input errors before submitting. An electronic confirmation and transaction record will be made available through the service or payment provider, subject to technical and legal retention requirements.
Spendful is supplied as a digital service. The service description, limitations, cancellation process and support contact are set out on this site and in the checkout flow. Statutory consumer rights under the Consumer Protection Act and Electronic Communications and Transactions Act continue to apply.
06
Acceptable use
- Do not probe, disrupt or bypass service security or account-level access controls.
- Do not use Spendful to process unlawful, fraudulent or infringing content.
- Do not scrape, resell or place unreasonable automated load on the service.
- Do not impersonate another person or misrepresent authority over financial data.
07
Your records and service rights
You retain rights in the records you add. You give Spendful the limited permission needed to host, process, display and back up those records for operating the service.
Spendful and its licensors retain rights in the application, brand, interfaces and supporting software. These terms do not transfer ownership of the service to you.
08
Availability and liability
Spendful is provided on an as-available basis. Reasonable efforts are made to keep it reliable, but uninterrupted access, error-free imports and complete forecasts cannot be guaranteed.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Spendful is not responsible for decisions made solely from calculated outputs, indirect losses or failures caused by third-party services. Rights that cannot lawfully be excluded remain unaffected.
09
Suspension, termination and changes
Access may be limited or suspended to protect users, investigate misuse, meet legal obligations or maintain the service. You can stop using Spendful and request account deletion at any time.
Accounts with no dashboard activity for 30 days receive an email notice that deletion is scheduled. If the account remains inactive for another 30 days after that notice, Spendful may permanently delete the account and associated data. Signing in and opening the dashboard during the notice period cancels the scheduled deletion.
These terms may change as features and legal requirements evolve. The updated date will identify the current version. Questions can be sent to support@spendful.com.
10
Governing law and complaints
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. A consumer may approach an applicable South African consumer-protection body or court with jurisdiction, and nothing here removes a mandatory right or forum available under South African law.
Raise a complaint first through the Contact page so we can investigate and respond. Billing and refund requests are described in the Refund policy.
